Because I always wanted to join an International League.
The only other one with which I was even remotely connected was the International League of Intellectual Fascists (an Ayn Rand groupie group), and, pedant though I am, I did not care to be associated with that league...I am not fond of any sort of fascism. But that was another time, another place.
And I know, you will all (both) now crack the pedantic whip at me for having begun two sentences with conjunctions.
